Had to share this with you guys!
I met an elderly woman about 2 years ago, when she called for a Market Analysis on her adult community home. She was applying for admission to an assisted living facility and needed to provide documentation of her assets. She was clear with me that she wasn't ready to sell.
I visited with her and we immediately bonded. She is a dear woman who had recently lost her husband. I gave her the analysis and helped her get her application submitted. Unfortunately, she did not get in to that facility. Since that time, I would periodically give her a call to check in and say hello.
She called yesterday and asked for another Market Analysis. She again repeated that she wasn't ready to sell. However, she did stress that when she is ready to sell she will be listing her home with me. She said she would never consider anyone else. I was beaming! Obviously, I've made a great impression on this woman.
Then she hit me with this... "JoAnna, I want you to know something. I put it in writing."
"Huh? What does that mean?" I pondered.
"I wrote a letter that even if I die, YOU are the only one I want to sell this house. I told my son and gave him your card. So please don't worry if I die. You will still sell this house, even if it is after I'm gone."
WOW!! She kind of left me in her will!! How's that for making a lasting impression!!!

She must really like you! It pays to go the extra mile!
JoAnna, it certainly is a relationship business! you obviously are doing the right things for your clients.
Have a great Thanksgiving! (I had to stop by and say hello to a Fellow NJ blogger!)
Rob
That is wonderful! It's so unusual for people to have this level of consideration for the time and effort of others.
Wow...... Now the trick is asking my clients to put them in their will.
Love it!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking the last line was that she passed away and gave you her $5mm home.
You always have the best blog stories! Keep up the good work.
Tony
Wow...that's a big gesture Jo!
JoAnna, As I sit here and read your blog I can hear the firetruck's sirens blaring. Now I'm wondering if its responding to a call for the local adult community!!!!
LOL Gail!! I hope not!
JoAnna - She sounds like a sweetheart. You have certainly made an impression on her.
JoAnna,
I have one very special lady who, in her will, has instructed that when time comes, I was to have the listing. I am hoping my lady lives forever but found this to be the most genorous gestures in my career.
Wonder if these two special people know each other.
Margaret,
What if it is the SAME woman? What if she is a habitual testament-er?
LOL, I'm joking and like you, I was touched by this gesture more than I can express. Even if she didn't really do it! The fact that she felt the need to tell me that was all I needed to know!
JoAnna
JoAnna, now that is a fan for life - and for the beyond! Good work!
JoAnna, LOL. This is someone who I talked out of selling her condo. I took her to see everything she wanted to, but knew she was in the right place for now. Her family (nieces/nephews) wanted her to sell and either move with them or to assissted living. The timing was not right for her. We admire each other and I am in touch with her every few weeks. Yes, you could call her a raving fan. She has enriched my life with her appreciation
Talk about the ultimate referral!!!
Wow! How really wonderful, JoAnna! You must have really made an impression on this woman. Now that's customer appreciation!
Met with my lady friend the other day and we talked more about this. She said she has met with many agents over the years but she was struck by my genuine interest in helping her, as opposed to other agents only wanting to service her to get the listing!
JoAnna, you're my HERO!!
